Reading terms

Information for the real person reading our imaginary river.

01

An imaginary place to visit

Skipper’s Oddments presents original fiction and illustrative artwork. Its enormous fish, floating islands and improvised machinery are part of the story. The site is not a source of boating, navigation, mechanical or outdoor safety instructions.

02

Small choices, no stakes

Interactive choices alter a passage or a visual state. They do not involve money, betting, prizes, competitive rankings or a promise of a reward. There is no account balance or real-world booking behind the ferry controls.

03

Read at your own pace

You can revisit a story and choose another branch. The main beginning and conclusion remain readable without completing a challenge. A browser or connection problem may interrupt the visit; the shore office can receive a report of a specific issue.

04

Respect the work and the people

Do not disrupt the website, attempt to access stored correspondence or submit someone else’s private information. Reading the stories does not grant permission to represent the artwork or the characters as your own commissioned creation.

05

The real contact channel

The shore-office form is for questions about the website and its material. A confirmation means a note was stored, not that a character will reply, that a physical item will arrive or that a service was booked.

06

Changes and corrections

The collection may be revised to improve a passage or repair a page. If you find something unclear, identify the story and the part in question. The office can handle a focused correction more easily than an unexplained report.
