Information for the real person reading our imaginary river.
A note is a real record
The shore-office form collects the name, reply email, selected topic and message that you enter, plus your agreement to store it. When the form confirms success, the website stores a reference and receipt time with those fields. The characters in the stories are not the recipients.
Keep the envelope light
Please send only what is needed to explain a website question or correction. We do not ask for a street address, date of birth, identification document, password or payment information. Avoid including another person’s private details.
What the office uses it for
Authorised site administrators can use the record to handle the enquiry and related follow-up. Submitting a note does not sign you up for a mailing list, enter a competition or create a public comment beneath a story.
Choices aboard the ferry
Packing objects and choosing story branches change the open page. This version does not automatically save those choices in browser storage or transmit them to the shore office. They are separate from the real enquiry form.
Technical records
The form keeps a technical rate-limit entry derived from the network address to reduce rapid repeated submissions. The raw address is not placed in the stored note itself. Hosting systems may maintain operational access logs separately.
Reviewing an earlier note
Use the shore-office form and choose “My stored note”. Include the confirmation reference if available and explain whether you want the record checked, corrected or removed. The office may need enough information to identify the right record without exposing someone else’s correspondence.
Keeping correspondence only as needed
Notes should be retained while they are needed to handle the conversation and associated administration. We do not claim an automatic deletion schedule. You can request a review of a particular note through the shore office.
